Remembering Bodhi

Bodhi River Wilbanks was born to Sydney and Andrew Wilbanks. At seven days old, he passed away from severe myocarditis and encephalomyelitis linked to an enterovirus infection.
His story showed us how hard it can be for parents to get urgent newborn symptoms addressed quickly when their concerns are not being heard.

Newborn Illness Red Flags, Rapid Recognition & Parent Support

Our Story Begins Here

Bodhi River Wilbanks was born to Sydney and Andrew Wilbanks, and he was deeply loved from his first breath. In just seven days, our family faced the unthinkable when Bodhi passed away from severe myocarditis and encephalomyelitis linked to an enterovirus infection.

That loss became a purpose. The Bodhi River Foundation exists to help families recognize Newborn Illness earlier, understand Red Flags, and take clear next steps when something feels wrong. We also support Rapid Recognition and diagnostic safety efforts so parents feel heard, concerns are reassessed, and babies get timely care.

Our Mission

Honoring Bodhi’s story through support and community care, The Bodhi River Foundation empowers parents and frontline providers to recognize newborn illness early, act quickly, and improve diagnostic safety, while supporting research that advances prevention and treatment of neonatal infectious disease.
